  • 4 small French baguettes or hoagie rolls
  • For char siu pork: 400g pork belly, 2 tbsp hoisin, 1 tbsp soy, 1 tbsp honey, 1 tsp five-spice
  • For pickles: 1 daikon, 2 carrots, 1/2 cup rice vinegar, 2 tbsp sugar, 1 tsp salt
  • Mayonnaise
  • Pâté (optional)
  • Fresh cucumber, sliced
  • Fresh jalapeño, sliced
  • Fresh cilantro

Instructions

    Make pickles: julienne daikon and carrot. Toss with vinegar, sugar, and salt. Rest 30 minutes.

    Marinate pork in hoisin, soy, honey, and five-spice 30 minutes. Roast at 200°C for 20 minutes until caramelized.

    Slice pork thinly.

    Split baguettes lengthwise. Spread with mayonnaise and pâté if using.

    Layer with pork, pickled vegetables, cucumber, jalapeño, and cilantro.

    Press gently and serve immediately.
